Services for December

Hope. We human beings hope. We hope for good weather, for for the traffic to unsnarl, for the old car to make it through the winter. We hope the children are OK. People long ago must have hoped for similar things: good weather, safe travels, for the old horse to make it through the winter, for the children to be OK. As the days shorten and grow colder, December invokes the big hopes of the world’s religions. We share songs, signs, and symbols of Hope. As members of a free faith, one that welcomes different beliefs, together we celebrate Hope. As we gather in community, Hope invites us to grow, to wonder, and to hold Hope close.

The heart is not always in sync with the season. Longing for light and hope, we remember the miracles and blessings of Hanukkah and Christmas, even when we aren’t ready to receive them.We will hold space for the light and hope waiting to be reborn in each of us as we bless one another with the reminder that we are beloved children of the Universe.

We are born of this magic. The Labyrinth will be available for those who wish for a time of reflection or dreaming. Hot chocolate and cider will be provided. Please bring cookies to share!
