Brief Bios of Committe Members

Mark Gallihue

I’m a recently retired federal employee with 25 years of civilian service and 27 years of military service in the Army Reserve. I deployed to Bosnia, Haiti, and the Middle East. My wife and I joined the Fellowship almost 25 years ago. We raised both our daughters in this church. Both are active in churches now: Our 26-year-old manages communications for All Souls UU church in New York City. Our 23-year-old is a musician for the St. Thomas Episcopal church in Dupont Circle, Washington DC.

I’ve served in a few leadership positions at the church. I grew up in the UCC where my father was a minister. My church journey went through several places before we came to UUFHC. UUFHC is the right place for us.

Mike Johnson

My family and I moved to the area due to a military change of station about two years ago. I’m an Army officer about to move into the civilian workforce after over 25+ years of active duty service. Once in the area, we quickly found UUFHC, became members, and really appreciated the warm welcome and wonderful atmosphere. My three teenage daughters also enjoy going to church and get a lot from both the youth program and the congregation.

Outside of professional work and spending time supporting all the families’ activities, I enjoy reading and relearning how to play the guitar left-handed after an injury.

Kay Saucier

Kay has been a member of UUFHC for 40+ years. She joined the same year that UUFHC’s first minister, Geoffrey Drutchas, arrived. She worked for UUFHC from 1988 through 1999, as church secretary, then for 7 years as Director of Relegious Education, sometimes filling both positions. Afterwards Kay joined the finance team and served as treasurer and finance committee chair. She is also newsletter editor since 2002. In the past, Kay served on the publicity and archive committees. She has served on the UUFHC Executive Board a total of 11 years.

Kathy Kraft

Kathy has been a member of UUFHC for almost 20 years and has served in several roles throughout her tenure including Executive Board President. She is currently active with the Community Outreach Committee supporting several projects and the Holiday Bazaar Committee. She is also a Greeter welcoming members and guests on Sunday morning.

Maureen North

Maureen is a retired educator who continues to work part time as an advisor in the Adult Literacy Office at Harford Community College. She was a member and co-president with her husband of the Unitarian Universalists of Fallston before joining UUFHC in 2017. She has served on the Social Justice Committee in the past and now is the chair of the Community Outreach Committee and a member of the Compassion Care Committee. She also works in the church garden in her spare time and helps with the Serendipity Auction Baskets.

Dyrck Van Dusen

I retired after 20 years in the Marines and 26 years as an Engineer/Analyst/Division Manager with the Survice Engineering Company working primarily at Aberdeen and Quantico. My wife Gina and I have been married 53 years and we have two children and five wonderful grandchildren. We have been UUs since 1982 and we joined UUFHC in 1988 following my retirement from the Marines. For UUFHC I served as Chair of our Search Committee as we looked for a bigger facility. That search was not successful so I then became the head of the Building Committee for our current facility. I have also served as the Executive Board President, Vice President, Treasurer, and the Chair of the Finance, Safety, Building and Grounds Committees. Additionally I worked six years with our teens in the Coming of Age program and served often as a Greeter for Sunday services.
