This year's auction, Let's Make a Deal, will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010, starting at 6:00 PM. If this is your first auction, you're in for the Real Deal! Enjoy wine and hors d'oeuvres while you stroll through the silent auction items. Place your bids for goods, services and social outings at the live auction — fill your social calendar with a variety of fun dinners, picnics and recreational outings with other UUFHC members!
Begin the fun by donating an auction item or service! Auction Contract Forms are available at the Fellowship; the form can also be downloaded here in either MS Word or PDF Format. You can send the completed form(s) to the Fellowship, drop them in the Auction Box at the back of Church, or e-mail them to Rich Beard. All Auction contracts need to be in by April 2nd and the Auction Catalogs will be available on April 11th. Tickets are $5 for each adult and children are free.
The Auction is a major fundraiser for our Fellowship, helping to offset expenses not covered through pledges. We look forward to everyone supporting the auction with contributions of services and items, as well as generous bidding the night of the event. With all of the wonderful social opportunities and services listed, you are sure to "Make the Deal of your Life"!
If you are planning to attend and need childcare, there will be a sign-up list posted at the back of the Church; you can also e-mail your request to Kathy Kraft
For more information, please contact Kathy Kraft (Kthykraf@verizon.net) or any of the Auction Committee Members: Amy Alton, Stacie Beard, Leslie Blackstock, Hazel Hopkins, Joy Mullen, or Laura Paligo. In case you missed it when it originally aired on WYPR's The Signal, you can now catch the podcast of their interview with Ken Bourn, as he shares his inspired project to remember Jean.
Reverend Lisa Ward will be offering a 4 week course through the Harford Community College non-credit program. It is entitled, The Mysticism of Jesus and will be held for four consecutive Thursdays from 7-9 pm beginning April 16th. Please find the description below. For registration, contact HCC or call for info at 443-412-2000.
Mysticism of Jesus
The ministry of Jesus of Nazareth inspired a religious movement that claims
one fourth of the world's population.
Yet one does not need to be Christian to tap into the sacred knowing that Jesus was espousing.
His words, recorded several decades after his death,
reach beyond organized religion into the mystical heart of all religions.
In this course we will examine what has been named
"The Sermon on the Mount,"
primarily through its rendering in the Book of Matthew.
This is an interfaith course, geared for universal application, not necessarily Christian faith doctrine.
Resources from other faith traditions and teachings will be a part of the dialogue.
Senior adult and disabled retiree tuition waivers apply.
Check the literature racks in the coat rack hall. If you missed the information about the Rowe Conference Center, SUUSI, and UUMAC for this summer and autumn, please be aware that there are so many wonderful opportunities for families and single persons to extend the realm of fellowship and to meet other UUs at these UU-sponsored places.
Besides camp and conference information, there are periodicals which you may take home, read and bring back, or pass along to others. Magazines such as UU World, HOPE, Science & Spirit, UTNE, and many others are in the racks. Catalogs from the fair trade artisans and teaching tapes are interesting! You don't have to sign-out anything. If you have some to contribute, simply place in the mailbox marked "Literature Rack" with your name and telephone number if you are not a member. No obvious political items, please. Enjoy!
